India tech project is latest charity gesture for Flemingo
By Luke Barras-hill |

The Flemingo-backed initiative equips children with confidence in a society heavily reliant on technology.
Non-profit organisation The Akanksha Foundation has teamed up with the Flemingo Foundation to empower children’s learning through technology.
The corporate social responsibility arm of Flemingo Travel Retail has assisted in setting up a computer lab at the Laxmi Nagar Public School in Mumbai.
Donated computers are being used to teach children in grade’s three, four and five basic Microsoft World and Excel skills.
Children are encouraged to advance their attainment levels through play-way methods in an environment where they can also learn, explore and have fun during recreational times.
AIMING HIGHER
Flemingo hopes the skills taught in the lab will help to improve students’ quality of life and instil in them the confidence to pursue higher education without the fear of being ostracised due to their social backgrounds.
In turn, the computer lab fosters greater educational interaction between children and members of the teaching staff.
The tie-up with Akanksha is a first for the Flemingo Foundation, which has worked on awareness-raising initiatives in Sri Lanka and sponsored SOS villages in Chennai and Africa.
Paul Topping, Director, Flemingo International said: “Though a small contribution, we are sure that this will add value to the child education system and bring out better career opportunities for them.
“We are happy to continue to support our various initiatives, making a difference with our efforts.”
