Indian travel retailer Mumbai Duty Free has partnered with Islay distillery Ardbeg to launch its latest global travel retail release, Ardbeg Smoketrails Manzanilla Edition.

The release has been created for smoky whisky enthusiasts, connoisseurs and those new to malts. A limited edition, the expression showcases the impact of cask maturation on the spirit.

Classic Ardbeg American oak barrels are used alongside Manzanilla sherry casks from Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Spain.

The resulting maritime, almost brine-like flavour imparted by the Manzanilla casks is said to enhance the inherent peat smoke quality.  

Given tasting notes include soot, dark chocolate, brazil nuts, pine and aniseed.

Ardbeg Smoketrails Manzanilla Edition will be available at Mumbai Duty Free alongside other Ardbeg expressions. Bottlings include in Ardbeg An Oa, Ardbeg Uigeadail, and Ardbeg Corryvreckan.

The expression is also available more widely in duty free, and at the Ardbeg Distillery Visitor Centre. 

Ardbeg parent LVMH posted 3% sales gains for its drinks division in the first quarter of 2023. Despite this, organic spirits revenues tumbled by 5%.
