Agency 2.0 Partners is calling on the travel retail community to become ‘Plastic Hunters’
Specialist travel retail agency 2.0 Partners has become an official supporter of non-profit The Ocean Cleanup and is calling on the industry to join a beach clean on 4 June.
Founded in 2013 by Dutch entrepreneur Boyan Slat, The Ocean Cleanup is a team of more than 120 engineers, researchers and scientists working to rid the world’s oceans of plastic pollution.
2.0 Partners is encouraging businesses and individuals across duty free and travel retail to join in the efforts to cut plastic use by asking themselves the question ‘What more can I do?’.
It praised the actions of HMSHost for rolling out non-plastic straws across its US airport business, and cited Patagonia as an “aspirational” brand for its financial support of the environment by becoming a non-profit.
In addition, the agency is encouraging others to become ‘Plastic Hunters’ and take part in a beach clean on Sunday 4 June.
“For us at 2.0 & Partners, supporting The Ocean Cleanup is just a part of our efforts. We have also been working for years with Ecologi to ensure we are offsetting our carbon, which is a bare minimum today,” the company said in a statement.
“Our support of this great cause is much more than just a token gesture, it is part of a much wider battle which we urge colleagues and partners across our business to join us in. We want to lead a movement of Plastic Hunters in duty free and travel retail – and across our business.”
More details on the 4 June beach clean will be released soon.
Earlier this month, 2.0 partners launched Tuscan-inspired Sabatini Gin into the duty free and travel retail market.
