Travel Retail Awards 2020 eco trophy

TRBusiness will be presenting sustainably-produced trophies for the first time at the 2020 awards’ ceremony.

In some much-needed positive news, TRBusiness and m1nd-set are delighted to announce the finalists for the 2020 Travel Retail Awards; the only consumer-voted awards dedicated to the duty free & travel retail industry.

We are also pleased to announce that the third 2020 Travel Retail Awards ceremony will now take place during the industry’s biggest trade event; The TFWA World Exhibition & Conference to be held once again in Cannes, this October.

A full list of 2020 finalists can be found on the dedicated Travel Retail Awards website. Please click here to view the finalists.

While TRBusiness originally planned to hold a rescheduled London ceremony in June, the ultimate decision was made to hold the 2020 event in Cannes, which will allow all those involved to gain even greater global exposure whilst reducing travel expenses and our combined carbon footprint.

It will also give finalists and winners the best chance of promoting their success at an opportune time when we hope the industry will be well on the road to recovery.

Though we are all experiencing an unprecedented time of uncertainty right now, with its mission to ‘help the industry grow’ this year’s Travel Retail Awards has never been more crucial to encouraging growth and driving sales.

TRBusiness must stress that only those that reached a critical benchmark high-score for their category were selected by our data partner m1nd-set to become a finalist.

As announced in July, the 2020 Travel Retail Awards sees the introduction of three game-changing new categories: Best Green Initiative at an Airport, Best Airport Food and Beverage Offer and Best Cruise Ship Retailer.

Finalists across all categories will receive an email soon containing a high-resolution ‘Voted by Shoppers’ finalists logo which they can immediately display on all promotional materials.

TR-AWARDS-FINALIST-STAMP-2020The logo has become a badge of honour for previous years’ finalists (and winners), who have revealed the tangible benefits – and sales growth – they have achieved as a result of their success in the Travel Retail Awards. Click here to read testimonials.

According to a m1nd-set study, TRBusiness can reveal that 31% of consumers would be influenced to purchase a product in duty free & travel retail stores upon seeing its Travel Retail Awards ‘Voted by Shoppers’ winners logo. In addition, 22% of those surveyed said they would be influenced by the finalist logo.

All finalists are entitled to begin using the exclusive ‘Voted by Shoppers’ logo.

FEEDBACK GUARANTEED

Entrants will be issued with concrete feedback on their respective submissions to fine tune and improve future commercial activities.

This feeds into TRBusiness’ and m1nd-set’s commitment to recognising novelty, ingenuity and the often trailblazing work undertaken by suppliers and airports in travel retail.

This feedback, together with the advertised ‘Voted by Shoppers’ logo, aims to set a new benchmark in travel retail innovation that not only recognises achievements within the industry, but also promotes those achievements to a wider B2C audience.

SUSTAINABILITY CENTRE-STAGE
As reported, sustainability is high on this year’s agenda. Not only has TRBusiness partnered with Platinum Sponsor Mars Wrigley to raise awareness and funds for global environmental organisation the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), it will also be giving a cash prize to the winner of the Green Initiative Award, which they will then donate to a sustainability-themed charity of their choice. In addition to this, TRBusiness will also be presenting sustainably-produced trophies for the first time.

Platinum sponsor Distell has donated £5,000 to support these charity initiatives.
