A380 gets the all clear

By Administrator |

The Airbus A380 was given its certificate of air worthiness yesterday by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Approval was given at a ceremony at the European aircraft manufacturer's Toulouse headquarters yesterday after Airbus demonstrated that it had overcome wiring installation problems which had initially delayed delivery dates of the aircraft.
But as reported already, the all clear has come too late for some, with US parcel service company FedEx having already cancelled its order for the aircraft and some other carriers threatening to do the same if compensation for the delays are not forthcoming.
Top of the list is Thai Airways which has threatened to cancel its order for six of the aircraft if compensation negotiations prove to be unsatisfactory.
