Airline staff join Indian airports strike

By Administrator |

The Air Corporations Employees' Union which represents public sector airline staff has joined striking Airport Authority of India (AAI) staff in their demands for the cancellation of the privatisation process for Delhi and Mumbai airports.

The union is calling on the government to declare the tender result null and void and explore alternative strategies to modernize both airports.
At the same time, Indian police have taken over many of the functions of running of the country's two main airports following the staff walk out on Wednesday.
Many passengers have been forced to walk to the airports after roads were blockaded and the 23,000 workers on strike show no signs of going back to work
