‘Adapt & Survive’ Skype video series: Andy King, MD, Travel Blue China

By Luke Barras-hill |

ADAPT AND SURVIVE - Andy King 460x306Travel Blue China Managing Director Andy King is confident that Chinese domestic travel and tourism is reviving and says it won’t be long until that confidence translates to international journeys – dependent on the global health situation.

In another important sign of encouragement for the global DF&TR industry, Shanghai-based King echoes a discourse fermenting for some weeks now that China is beginning to display an appetite for travel, as the country emerges from quarantine.

During a frank and revealing interview, King sheds light on the current situation in the country and discusses the government’s response to the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.

Conversation touches on moves to deter a second wave of infection by adopting technology and big data through smartphone software that identifies and tracks individuals travelling to ‘at risk’ areas of China.

King also speaks about Travel Blue’s laudable efforts to supply important personal protective equipment in China and maintains that those efforts have not stopped. Elsewhere, he highlights company plans to launch a new travel health range.

Adapt and Survive asks members of the travel retail industry community, often working from home, for their candid commentary on the constantly evolving Covid-19 pandemic.

The video series is a direct response to the industry’s critical need for direct, factual and analytical commentary and – in typical TRBusiness fashion – interprets clearly and concisely the challenges faced by travel retail during Covid-19.
