André de Almeida is leaving his post at Loch Lomond Group after five years to seek a new challenge outside global travel retail.

Experienced drinks executive André de Almeida is leaving his post as Managing Director – Global Travel Retail at independent Scotch whisky distillery Loch Lomond Group, TRBusiness has learned.

Almeida will depart the company on Friday 16 April to pursue a new opportunity outside of global travel retail within the drinks industry.

He has spent almost five years with Loch Lomond Group where he was responsible for introducing the company’s eponymous Scotch whisky and brands such as Glen Scotia into global travel retail.

Prior to Loch Lomond, Almeida spent four years at William Grant & Sons as Director – Travel Retail – Europe, a position he took up in 2012 after spells with The Edrington Group (Edrington) and Maxxium UK.

In a post on his blog reproduced with permission, Almeida said: “The last few years have been an absolute privilege. I look forward to my new challenge but will be leaving Loch Lomond Group with a heavy heart as I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the company working with some wonderful people.”

Details of his new appointment are expected in the coming weeks, added the blog post.
