APTRA seeks replacement as Michael Barrett steps down

Michael Barrett has served as APTRA’s Executive Officer since July 2010.

The Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA) has begun a recruitment process to replace Executive Officer Michael Barrett, who leaves the post this summer.

Barrett confirmed to TRBusiness today that he is taking up a new role at The Moodie Davitt Report.

Since assuming the Executive Officer position in July 2010, Barrett has played an important part in growing and managing the association’s activities, which cover advocacy work, the Responsible Retailing Training Programme, consumer insights and market research, and the successful KPMG Insights Seminars and APTRA Airport Forums.

Prior to joining APTRA, Barrett worked with TFWA in Paris and has held a number of other roles in the media and digital industries.

He also the Founder and Director of the Soulcial Trust, an NGO founded in India that raises awareness about disability and environmental issues in developing countries.

APTRA President Andrew Ford (left) stated: “On behalf of the board I would like to thank Michael for all he has done to build APTRA and take it from its infant stage to its maturity as a strong regional duty free association.

“His energy, dedication and resourcefulness have contributed enormously to the co-ordination of APTRA’s advocacy campaigns, the management of a wide-ranging research programme and the development of respected seminars and training initiatives. We wish him well in his future endeavours.”
