Crew members from the Carnival Destiny cruise ship have been awarded their prize won during the 8th annual Bacardi Cruise Competition, organised by the world-famous rum brand.

 

Bacardi received a record number of entries for this year’s Bacardi Cruise Competition from the Carnival Destiny crew and in recognition of this achievement, the entire crew were treated to a Bacardi party in the rum’s 150^th anniversary year.

 

Bacardi Global Travel Retail created the Bacardi Cruise Competition to support the cruise industry and recognise the talent of onboard bartenders and chefs.

 

“Every year we have seen a substantial increase in the quantity of entries for the Bacardi Cruise Competition but it’s not just the volume of recipes received which is impressive,” said Zachary Sulkes, Regional Manager, Bacardi Travel Retail Americas.

‘EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY’

“We have been overwhelmed by the exceptional quality of the entries from the many cruise and ferry ships that have entered this year’s Competition.

 

“To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Bacardi rum, this year’s Competition is offering more cash prizes than ever before.”

 

At the grand final taking place in March 2013, more than 40 prizes will be awarded and the Competition’s most prestigious Awards – Bacardi Bartender of the Year and Bacardi Chef of the Year – will be announced with each winning a prize of US$5,000.

 

FINAL IN MARCH 2013

Sulkes added: “Over the coming weeks, our team of master mixologists and culinary experts will be assessing every one of the entries received as they face the tough challenge of deciding who will be named this year’s category finalists.”
