BREAKING: Cords leaves Heinemann ‘to pursue new professional challenges’

By Luke Barras-hill |

Jennifer Cords joined Heinemann in 2018.

Respected DF&TR executive Dr Jennifer Cords has left Gebr. Heinemann ‘with immediate effect’, the Hamburg-headquartered travel retailer has announced.

In a statement, Heinemann confirms Cords’ departure was made ‘at her own request’ to ‘pursue new professional challenges’.

Heinemann’s management says it ‘expressly regrets the decision of the accomplished duty free expert’.

It is gathered that Cords has also stepped down from her positions as President of the German Travel Retail Association (DTRV) and ETRC.

Little else is known at this stage as to the nature of Cords’ departure and TRBusiness has reached out to Cords for further comment.

“Her succession at Gebr. Heinemann and in the associations will be settled in the coming weeks,” read the statement.

A Heinemann spokesperson declined to provide further information when approached by TRBusiness.

CEO Max Heinemann said: “In her three years with our company, Jennifer has brought together the areas of Corporate Affairs, Corporate Compliance, Corporate Responsibility and Corporate Communications, anchored them in the company and professionalised them. In doing so, she has built a strong team across all areas.

“She has thus developed Gebr. Heinemann’s positioning on sustainability issues in accordance with clearly defined goals and successfully sharpened our political profile both internally and externally. We thank Jennifer for her very successful work for Gebr. Heinemann and wish her all the best for her professional future.”
