BREAKING: TR Consumer Forum agenda confirmed
By Luke Barras-hill |
TRBusiness and m1nd-set are pleased to reveal important details regarding the event programme for the second annual Travel Retail Consumer Forum, which will take place on 4-6 September.
The Opening Cocktail, sponsored by Beam Suntory, will be held on Sunday 4 September on the great lawns of the resplendent Parklane Hotel in Limassol, Cyprus, in proud partnership with Host Sponsor Cyprus Duty Free (CTC-ARI).
This will offer industry stakeholders the chance to connect with fellow attendees and network in a relaxed, convivial setting ahead of a packed two-day conference programme beginning on Monday 5 September.
The gala dinner will take place on Monday following what promises to be a compelling day one of educational sessions, which will feature an opening address from Cyprus’ Minister of Transport, Communications & Works Yiannis Karousos.Building on the lightning success of last year’s event, the second annual TR Consumer Forum will offer a rich menu of laser-focused debate and discussion traversing themes such as creating customer-centric work cultures, redefining the shopper journey and retail proposition, and the power of place in influencing the consumer experience while fostering loyalty.
In addition, the TR Consumer Forum will probe region-specific challenges and opportunities such as shifting attitudes to travel shopping in a post-pandemic environment, and shine the light on key macro-economic, economic and social issues shaping consumer spending such as attitudes to European shopping in a post-Brexit environment.
With the increasing onus on brands, retailers, airports, airlines, cruises and other DF&TR segments to incorporate aspects of so-called conscious consumerism into their business practices, TRBusiness and m1nd-set will explore how such schematics are playing out through the lenses of social and environmental responsibility; diversity, equity & inclusion; and health and wellbeing, among other topics.
Guests will enjoy ample networking breaks and lunches, plus evening cocktails from Sunday 4 to Tuesday 6 September.
As reported, registration for the TR Consumer Forum opened earlier this month and all interested persons are encouraged to register by clicking the above link. The early bird discount rate of £595 ends on 18 July, after which the standard rate of £695 will apply.
Nigel Hardy and Janice Hook, Joint Managing Directors and TRBusiness Owners, commented: “TRBusiness, together with our partner m1nd-set, take immense pleasure in announcing important details around the agenda for the second annual TR Consumer Forum.
“The Covid-19 crisis now coupled with global inflationary pressures and the war in Ukraine means shockwaves to travel and retail ecosystems continue to reverberate, after what has been an incredibly tough few years. While it is heartening to see travel and spending resume in many regions, we have an even greater responsibility today to anticipate the new expectations and demands of travelling consumers.
“This where the TR Consumer Forum plays a critical role, acting as a conduit to encouraging knowledge and information exchange and moving the conversation ‘from B2B to B2B2C’ with exclusive research and data courtesy of m1nd-set.
“The information that delegates receive at the 2022 event will give them a true advantage in applying retail models and product offerings to ensure they can predict – not react – to the shifting sands of travel purchasing. The abundance of networking opportunities means those serious about learning and future proofing their businesses cannot afford to miss out.
“We are immensely grateful for the support shown by our Host Sponsor Cyprus Duty Free and CTC-ARI, who will greet TR Consumer attendees with traditional Mediterranean warmth and hospitality for two days of out-of-the-box thinking, resulting in real, actionable changes to the way our industry conducts business with the consumer at the very heart of that conversation. We look forward to seeing you in Limassol in September.”

A number of high profile senior industry executives have pledged their participation to the industry’s only event committed solely to understanding the behaviours and attitudes of the ever-changing travelling consumer.
As is customary, event delegates will enjoy an essential and unrivalled programme of consumer insights produced by leading travel retail research firm m1nd-set in a package worth six figures in value.
The m1nd-set package will only be available to delegates.
PRIZE DRAW
This intelligence emerges at a crucial apex in the DF&TR industry’s collective recovery from the pandemic, when interpreting and responding to consumer expectations has never been more important on a cross-regional, cross-category and cross-channel basis.
TR Consumer Forum delegates will be entered into a prize draw courtesy of Host Sponsors Cyprus Duty Free to win up to €9,000 to spend in duty free shopping vouchers.
Delegates will need to be present in the conference room to win as the winners will be announced after the lunch breaks on both conference days.
Commenting on the cash giveaways, Cyprus Duty Free General Manager Andrew Baker said: “Cyprus Duty Free are proud to be sponsoring the daily prize competition at the TR Consumer Forum this coming September.
“This will allow the lucky winners the opportunity to enjoy some great shopping in our stores at both Larnaca and Paphos Airports, with some of travel retail’s best international brands as well as the very best of our own award winning local products, exclusively available at Cyprus Duty Free.
Toni McDonald, Cyprus Duty Free’s Retail & Marketing Manager, added: “We want to offer the winners of the daily competitions a very different shopping experience, one that offers the very best in international travel retail, combined with our award winning Kypriaka local products, as well as that fabulous and warm Cypriot hospitality.”
