Shoppers can browse luxury bags, watches, accessories and jewellery, the last category of which includes Bulgari’s Serpenti, B.Zero1 and Tubogas collections.

Italian luxury house Bulgari has opened a new door at Zurich Airport.

The 130sq m shop, a partnership between the airport, brand and Avolta, sells a curated selection of high-end jewellery, luxury handbags and timepieces.

“We are proud to open a new temple in a key European airport,” commented Gabriele Arlotta, Director of Bulgari Travel Retail Europe. “We will be able to welcome our worldwide clients, offer them a glimpse of Rome and let them discover our latest creations during their visit at Zurich Airport in an environment reflecting our entire DNA and hospitality values.”

The store’s Italian design philosophy draws on materials such as marble, Travertino Navona stone and bright hues in a blend of heritage and modernity.

Travellers are invited to explore 2,700 years of Roman history beginning with an imperial green marble Pelmet featuring the brand’s lettered logo.

The recognisable eight-pointed star at the entrance is inspired by the Via Condotti store as a symbol of balance, harmony and cosmic order – the eight lines symbolise the four cardinal points (north, south, east, west) and time (two solstices and two equinoxes) while the star signifies ‘Roma Caput Mundi’, translating roughly to ‘Rome, capital of the world’.

Inside, the central countertop links to the Cabochon cut, which traces to the 1960s when Bulgari began to introduce its jewellery designs, with furniture crafted from roman stone Travertino Navona against a backdrop of Orange Luce di Roma lining, pointing to the lights of Rome.

Fluted walls adorned with vertical grooves in a nod to traditional Roman columns emphasise the connection between the past and present, while the Serpenti Chandelier by Venini in Murano glass celebrates the brand’s Greco-Roman heritage and modern design ethos.

The custom-designed chandelier features around 300 crystal wands in Triedri shapes crafted by master artisans of Venice.

Meanwhile, artwork from Andy Warhol brings to life the connection that the pop artist enjoyed with the brand.

Manuela Facheris, Global Fashion, Luxury, WJA and Sunglasses Director at Avolta said: “Together with Bulgari and Zurich Airport, we’ve brought to life a sanctuary of Roman heritage, design, and craftsmanship in the heart of Zurich Airport. This new boutique exemplifies what Avolta stands for: transforming every journey into something extraordinary and this stunning Bulgari boutique at Zurich Airport does just that. We are proud to welcome travellers into this immersive world of timeless luxury.”
