Caran d’Ache and Nespresso recycle pods for new pens
By Charlotte Turner |
Nespresso and Caran d’Ache have joined forces to create a limited edition ballpoint pen from the recycled aluminium of coffee capsules, in what will be a new addition to the Caran d’Ache ‘Office’ collection, to be made available in travel retail.
The product is currently listed with Air France and will begin with KLM on 1 July. In addition it will be sold at Geneva and Zurich airports and is available to purchase in these locations from June.
This ballpoint pen is part of the ‘Second Life’ project launched by Nespresso in 2016 to promote the recycling of aluminium capsules by offering ‘tangible proof of the new life they can enjoy after they have been collected and recycled’.
“We are pleased to join forces with such a prestigious company as Caran d’Ache to offer the general public tangible proof of what can be achieved with Nespresso capsules returned by consumers after use,” says Niels Kuijer, Director of Nespresso Switzerland.
“As well as being a ballpoint pen boasting Swiss Made quality, it is also a powerful message sent to consumers everywhere showing them that their contribution to recycling our capsules is essential in offering them a second life.”
“This collaboration is in keeping with our philosophy which has been founded on sustainable development, innovation and creativity for more than 100 years,” adds Carole Hubscher, President of Caran d’Ache. “Caran d’Ache is delighted to be a valued partner of Nespresso in this unique project which has given rise to this fashionable everyday design accessory.”
