Maison Lanson’s Le Blanc de Blancs earns plaudits from wine specialist
By Luke Barras-hill |
Champagne Lanson’s Le Blanc de Blancs has received a score of 95 points from multi-award winning wine writer, television presenter and producer Tyson Stelzer.
Exclusive to duty free, wine retailers and on-premise outlets, Le Blanc de Blancs is listed with Lagardère Travel Retail and will feature in upcoming travel retail promotions in the UK to support the Wimbledon Championships tennis tournament.
Stelzer branded the champagne ‘outstanding’ while paying tribute to the work of Lanson Winemaker Hervé Dantan in developing the cuvée’s presence in global gastronomy.
“For Lanson Le Blanc de Blancs, Hervé Dantan has strategically utilised the Montagne de Reims (40%), and in particular the east-facing chardonnay crus of Villers-Marmery and Trépail alongside Vitry
and Montgueux (10%),” said Stelzer.
“This brings richness, generosity and complexity to the delicacy and tension of the Côte des Blancs (50%, with a special emphasis on long-ageing crus like Le Mesnil-sur-Oger), particularly vital in a style driven by malic acidity (there is 20% malolactic fermentation here).”
