Japan Tobacco International (JTI) has appointed Claudio Ferreira as the company’s new Global Travel Retail General Manager.

Ferreira, who takes up his new position on 1 November, succeeds Simon Warburton who is retiring after more than 25 years with the company, 13 of which have been dedicated to the travel retail division.

Having joined JTI in 2002 as Marketing Director in the Americas, Ferreira went on to assume different roles in the Camel brand group and in the Eastern Europe region based in Geneva.

Since 2018, he has been successfully managing JTI’s domestic operations in Brazil.

Simon Warburton, Global Travel Retail General Manager at JTI, said: “I would like to congratulate Claudio on his new role. I am confident that his wealth of experience will continue to strengthen JTI’s partnerships in travel retail.”

Ferreira said: “I’m very excited to join global travel retail at a time when we can build on new opportunities. I am impressed by the level of trust developed over the years between JTI and our trade partners, and my commitment is to continue supporting the mutual growth.

“Travel retail has undoubtedly been the most exciting time of my professional career. I have always encouraged the team to look for ways to sustain mutual growth for JTI and our partners by leveraging the importance of tobacco in travel retail.

“And our approach has never changed, no matter how big the challenges: it has always been clear that we needed to strengthen collaboration and build trust among trade partners. It has been gratifying to receive such positive feedback during these years.”
