Fashion accessories brand Coccinelle has unveiled a striking, black and white advertising campaign for its Spring/Summer 2023 collection.

Under the creative direction of Italian fashion photographer Giampaolo Sgura, with styling by Italian fashion journalist Anna Dello Russo (marking the duo’s third project for the brand), the campaign is a tribute to the ‘innocent, rebellious sensuality of the 50s’.

Set at a drive-in at night, it evokes the ‘neorealist ambience of cult films like The Outsiders and American Graffiti, while reflecting the vintage chic inspiration of Grease and Happy Days’, says Coccinelle.

In his visuals, Sgura conveys the tenderness of couples and the desire for a new, rediscovered sociability.

The campaign captures a distinctive mood – featuring key elements such as a pop-up party with popcorn, cuddling in the parking lot, and stealing a kiss just before the credits role – which is amplified through the styling of the models (hair down, denim and miniskirt for her and a tee-shirt and brillantine for him).

Three Coccinelle bags ‘co-star’ in the neo-romantic movie and campaign visuals.

The first is the Coccinelle Magie, a ‘harmonious’ bag with a plectrum clasp inspired by Elvis Presley’s rock and roll.

Also in the spotlight it the Coccinelle Sole bag, with its rounded flap, as well as the Coccinelle Nico bag, which is characterised by an oversized metal plectrum clasp.

The associated hashtag #ALLABOUTUS tells the story of contemporary femininity as seen through the eyes of Coccinelle, which is described as follows: ‘Body-conscious, equally in love with practicality and freedom, glamorous yet instinctive, always thrilled to new adventures’.
