The specialist airport commercial planning consultancy is resuming its professional development courses this year, as airports across the globe scale up their resources to cope with increasing passenger demand.

CPI’s Airport Commercial Management and Development Course is scheduled to take place in Sydney, Australia on 1-4 August.

Another course is due to take place on 3-6 October in Buckinghamshire, UK.

Training demand from new recruits

The company tells TRBusiness it is witnessing interest in professional development training for new recruits from within and outside the air transport sector.

Airports around the world continue to build back after an unprecedented two years of crisis, which has resulted in changes to teams.

With many airports recruiting outside and from within the sector, CPI says its courses will offer ‘intensive, specialised, commercially-focused’ courses that will enable team members to ‘hit the ground running’.

“We understand the importance of the relationship between delivering a great customer experience and optimising commercial revenue – while delivering a seamless experience to the passenger,” said Susan Gray, Managing Director at CPI.

“Now, more than ever, this is vitally important as airports seek to address both short-term challenges and simultaneously plan for the future.”

Course sessions will drill into the mechanics of optimising the commercial mix, analysing data and metrics to determine future demand and performance, tailoring the leasing programme to each airport, and more.

The courses will also consider innovation between airports and partners and consider ways to enhance the passenger service experience.

Gray continued: “We’ve trained many hundreds of airport executives. We are pragmatic. We are honest. And we promise a collaborative, interesting and valuable few days that will leave attendees energised and with both strategic and tactical insights that they can immediately apply in their day-to-day roles.”

The Sydney course will feature addresses from CPI Partners Susan Gray and Jeremy Corfield, who will flank expert guest speakers including Mark Wolfe, Aviation Lead & Principal at Hassell, a leading international multi-disciplinary design practice, and Craig Pring, Chief Development & Strategy Officer for the Pacific region at Lagardère Travel Retail.

Attendees will be afforded the chance to network with peers from around the world and develop meaningful business connections, adds CPI.
