Cutty Sark charts a course into new waters with 12-year-old blended Scotch

Blended Scotch whisky Cutty Sark says the launch of a new 12-year-old variant can attract the ‘next generation’ of consumers to the segment.

Cutty Sark 12yo (40% ABV) 100cl, which unveiled at the TFWA World Exhibition last year, will retail exclusively with Dubai Duty Free from June.

The new extension to the Cutty Sark portfolio is matured for 12 years in carefully selected bourbon and sherry casks.

“This is a first step to build the foundations of an enlarged Cutty range to appeal to whisky enthusiasts and recruit the next generation of Scotch consumers.”

Matured for 12 years in carefully selected bourbon and sherry casks, Cutty Sark 12yo has notes of dried and tropical fruits, spice, cloves, ginger and a hint of sea salt.

According to whisky expert Ian Buxton, the liquid adds ‘extra age and body’ that offers an extra dimension to Cutty Sark Original.

The ‘welcome addition’ to the range will appeal to drinkers ‘looking for the sweet spot of quality and value’ and can work as a standalone dram or mixer.

Named after the famous ship, the expression pays homage to a proud maritime history spanning nearly a century of adventure and discovery.

It is packaged in a black bottle with a cork seal reflecting the traditions of the Prohibition era synonymous with Cutty Sark.

The recognisable yellow label displays the famous ship and a compass to denote its maritime association.
