Datekin secures WH Smith travel retail listing
By Naomi Chadderton |
UK date snacking brand Datekin has secured a major listing with WH Smith, which will see its products roll out across more than 40 travel stores in the UK and international airports from 19 August.
In the UK, the brand will be available across WH Smith stores in rail, hospital and airport locations, with three products joining the range: Sukkari Date 60g Snack Packs, Original Date Cakes and Coconut & Tahini Date Balls.
According to Datekin, its Sukkari Date Snack Packs will be the first single-ingredient healthy snacking brand in WH Smith’s healthy snacking aisle. The range will be displayed on bespoke Datekin-branded shelf units designed to increase visibility and add in-store theatre. The travel retail rollout will also extend internationally, with the 60g Sukkari Date Snack Packs launching in WH Smith airport stores in Ireland, Belgium and the Netherlands. Selected locations will feature Datekin-branded floor vinyls directing travellers towards the products.
“Securing a listing of this scale with WH Smith is a defining moment for us,” said Datekin Head of Sales Michael Epstein. “Travel retail is exactly where a natural, grab-and-go snack belongs – in the hands of commuters and travellers looking for something better on the move. It’s the right home for the brand as we continue to grow, and we’re backing it properly to make sure shoppers find us.”
The launch will be supported by in-store sampling with WH Smith, alongside a two-week London Underground advertising campaign and office sampling around major London stations in September, timed to coincide with the post-summer return to work.
Datekin launched in spring 2025 and is already stocked in more than 150 independent coffee shops and retail stores across the UK. Its proposition centres on single- and minimal-ingredient snacks positioned as natural, less-processed alternatives for consumers seeking convenient options on the move.
The brand’s Date Cakes also received a Great Taste 2026 accolade, while further new product development is planned as Datekin continues to expand its retail presence.
