Experienced drinks executive David Wilson has been appointed Managing Director Global Travel Retail at William Grant & Sons (WG&S).

He steps into the role previously held by Ed Cottrell, who left the business at the end of last year.

Wilson, who joins from WG&S’ specialist private drinks label Quality Spirits International (QSI) where he served as Managing Director, has spent a number of years in the duty free industry.

Before joining QSI in August 2019, he served as Managing Director Global Travel Retail at Beam Suntory.

Wilson commented: “I am delighted to be joining William Grant & Sons and returning to the important and dynamic travel retail business. William Grant & Sons has an outstanding portfolio of brands, including Glenfiddich – the number one single malt Scotch whisky in the world.

“It has been an incredibly difficult time for travel retail recently, but I very much look forward to working with the team and reconnecting with many GTR colleagues and friends globally, as we work hard together, to secure a successful future for all.”
