Virgin Atlantic Airways has appointed DFASS to operate its onboard duty free contract, after the concessionaire was chosen ahead of incumbent Tourvest and others.

 

This will represent DFASS’ first major European airline onboard retail account, after it was chosen ahead of Tourvest, Gate Gourmet and ISG in a bid process. It is understood that no other companies were invited to submit offers for the business.

 

Sources confirm that Tourvest is disappointed at losing the account, although in Europe it continues to operate the British Airways onboard retail offer out of the UK.

 

DFASS claims to be the world’s largest inflight specialty retailer and inflight concessionaire, working with more than 40 airline partners, four of the world’s premier mega-carriers on global contracts and generating an annual sales turnover of $600m.

 

Virgin Atlantic was voted Airline of the Year at the last prestigious iSPY Awards.
