Experienced drinks industry executive Ed Cottrell has left his position as Managing Director Global Travel Retail at William Grant & Sons, TRBusiness can confirm.

It is gathered that Singapore-based Cottrell, who enjoyed a five-year stint as GTR MD, has returned to London and is now an Associate Advisor for bespoke hospitality agency On-Trade Consultancy.

It is not known at this stage whether William Grant & Sons has appointed a replacement for Cottrell’s position and TRBusiness is seeking further details on the departure.

William Grant & Sons GTR and Cottrell have been approached for comment.

In a note on its website and announcement made via LinkedIn, On-Trade Consultancy said: “Ed has just returned from Singapore, where he was a Managing Director for William Grant & Sons. He is now a freelance consultant based in London, specialising in advice to fast growing consumer drinks brands that want to scale up at home and internationally, for which the On-Trade consultancy is an ideal platform.

“Ed will be providing his expertise in business strategy and funding. What an incredible addition to the team.”

Prior to joining WGS in December 2015, Cottrell was an independent consultant and Commercial Director at Ei Group.

His CV boasts a lengthy spell at Diageo, where he held various sales and senior positions including Head of Customer Collaboration and Global Marketing Manager.

Before his drinks career, Cottrell served as an officer in the British army.

According to its website, On-Trade Consultancy works with some of the leading technology and drinks brands in the UK, from start-ups to established businesses.
