Edouard de Boissieu takes the reins in Champagne Lanson GTR restructure
By Luke Barras-hill |
Champagne Lanson has announced Edouard de Boissieu as Head of Travel Retail as Robert Rand takes on the role of UK Managing Director.
De Boissieu replaces Olivier de la Giraudière, who is set to retire from the champagne house after 15 years.
In his new role, de Boissieu will be supported by Travel Retail Trade Marketing Assistant Mathilde Lonclas and Travel Retail Administrative Assistant Virginie Dupuis.
As reported in July, de Boissieu was set to handle the global travel retail side of the Lanson business as part of a handover process lasting until the end of 2019.
The recruitment of Rémy Cointreau Global Travel Retail executive François Van Aal as Champagne Lanson’s new President that year led to a sharpening in the Reims-based firm’s global travel retail ambitions.
RENEWED GTR FOCUS
It signalled its intent clearly with the launch of new limited edition tennis racket-themed neoprene bottler cooler jackets celebrating 42 years of partnership with the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
Meanwhile, at the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes, Lanson showcased its new Organic Champagne – Lanson Green Label as it unveiled to customers a fresh brand platform highlighting ‘Vision 2020’ – the brand’s renewed strategy within travel retail.
In separate but related news, Robert Rand has been appointed as the new UK Managing Director replacing Paul Beavis, who left the company at the end of 2019.
Rand possesses experience in a number of senior management and sales roles at Lanson UK, including Head of Sales (Off Trade and On trade) and Senior Account Manager (Major Multiples).
While UK Sales Director, he was responsible for surpassing revenue targets to establish Lanson as the second largest champagne house in the UK. He has also worked for United Wineries, Moët Hennessy UK and Carlsberg Breweries.
Expressing his excitement at taking on the role, Rand said: “We are fortunate to have a collective team of incredibly strong and dynamic individuals working with us at Champagne Lanson UK and we also have exciting, evolutionary plans ahead.
“We will shortly be revealing our exciting brand redesign, new product launches, a new marketing and advertising campaign, as well as our 43rdpartnership year at The Championships, Wimbledon and our sixth partnership year with Chestertons Polo in the Park.
“2020 also happens to be our 260th anniversary and for what lies ahead, I’m also pleased to announce that we have appointed Daniel Corry as Head of Sales (Off Trade) and Alastair Harwood as Head of Sales (On Trade), combined with the recent promotion of Michael Pemberton as our Financial Director.”
François Van Aal, President, Champagne Lanson added: “I am happy to see Rob step up as UK Managing Director. I am in no doubt that he will make a success in his new role.”
