Edrington’s charity bike ride supports vulnerable children
By Pepi Sappal |
Following last year’s bike ride to raise funds for Taiwan’s Kaohsiung Autism Foundation, drinks firm Edrington is getting back in the saddle for another good cause – this time to support M’Lop Tapang, a shelter for vulnerable children in Cambodia.
Staff members, including Edrington’s Global CEO Ian Curle and Global Travel Retail MD Igor Boyadjian, will take part in the cycle ride scheduled for next month (14-17 November).
A 50-strong team will cycle through 600km of diverse terrain, from Siem Reap in the north of Cambodia to Sihanoukville in the south, to raise funds for M’lop Tapang.
The charity, based in Sihanoukville, provides a safe haven for vulnerable children and supports those at risk of abuse.
Last year, Edrington’s cyclists raced through Taiwan, covering an impressive 500km from the capital to Kaohsiung. The team of 50 riders raised £128,000 ($169,400) for the Kaohsiung Autism Foundation, which aids children with special needs.
This was almost twice the amount raised during 2015’s event, confirms Edrington.
MEANINGFUL IMPACT
“We feel incredibly privileged to be able to support such an inspirational charity in Cambodia and with Edrington ‘double matching’ all the money that is raised, we hope to make a meaningful impact to the lives of the children in M’lop Tapang’s care,” says Edrington MD for Asia Pacific & India, Martin Reimann.
Commenting on the fund-raising event, Boyadjian adds: “The travel retail industry has been extremely generous in its support of our previous rides, and we hope it will dig deep this year for another great cause.”
