Ashish Chopra joined DDFS in 2013.

Aer Rianta International (ARI) has confirmed the appointment of Ashish Chopra as the new Chief Executive of Delhi Duty Free Services (DDFS).

Chopra, currently Deputy CEO, will replace Philip Eckles, who steps down on 5 December.

A search for Eckles’ successor had been underway for some months.

INTEGRAL PART OF DDFS’ SUCCESS

Having joined DDFS as Head of Purchasing in 2013, Chopra ascended to Chief Operating Officer in April 2017 before rising to Deputy CEO in September 2019.

Philip Eckles will depart DDFS on 5 December.

Prior to his time at DDFS, Chopra spent several years in international buying, merchandising and retail roles working with some of India’s most recognisable retailers.

Ray Hernan, Chief Executive Officer, ARI commented:  “I congratulate Ashish in his promotion to CEO. Ashish brings significant commercial expertise to the role and has a strong track record in driving growth; already playing a central role in the success of the business at Delhi Duty Free.

“I look forward to working closely with Ashish as we manage through the impact of Covid-19 and drive future growth of the business. On behalf of the team at ARI, I wish him great success.”

GBS Raju, Chairman of Delhi Duty Free Services added: “Over his seven years with the organisation Ashish has played an integral role in the success of Delhi Duty Free and I know as he takes on these new responsibilities that he will skilfully lead DDFS as it recovers and rebuilds from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I, along with the Directors of the Board wish Ashish every success in his new role.”
