Duty-Free-Innovation-DFI-group-bag-shot-leadWhilst revealing three new categories for the 2020 consumer-voted Travel Retail Awards, we are thrilled to reveal that Duty Free Innovation (DFI) has signed up as the first Platinum sponsor for next year’s event.

Focused on sustainability, DFI offers a patented shopping innovation that grows revenue, supported by a full range of certified products specifically designed for the travel retail industry.

As such TRBusiness believes DFI is the perfect partner for the 2020 event, at which the winner of the ‘Best Green Initiative by an Airport’ will be crowned for the first time.

“Our environmentally friendly innovations are used by leading travel retailers and brands,” explains DFI. “Providing a hands-free shopping experience, our products are driven by shopper insight and are proven to grow sales and increase spend.”

Embracing the challenge to reduce single use plastic in travel retail, DFI is committed to supporting the industry objective to save 1 billion plastic bottles from landfill by 2025.

Senior Vice-President Global Commercial Strategy at DFI, Garry Stasiulevicuis, said: We are delighted and excited to be the first sponsor of the 2020 Travel Retail Awards, which is especially important this year as TRBusiness and m1nd-set have introduced the ‘Best Green Initiative by an Airport’ Award.

“At DFI, sustainability and efforts to positively impact the environment are at the heart of all we do. We believe this award will highlight some great initiatives and therefore encourage more stakeholders to do more.

“There is some really great work going on by brands and retailers that is going unnoticed. It is such an important topic among the travelling customer, so it’s great that these efforts can be recognised by the shoppers themselves.”

DFI-Travel-Basket-With-ProductAs reported, the three new awards comprise the following:

‘Best Green Initiative By An Airport’ – This category is open to any and all airports who will be offered the chance to tell consumers more about their green initiatives. The initiative they enter will be judged by m1nd-set’s unique database of international travellers, in addition to our esteemed panel of bloggers.

‘Best Cruise Ship Retailer’  Travellers recruited by m1nd-set will be asked to judge the shopping environment on their most recent cruise.

‘Best Airport Food & Beverage offer’  Consumers voting on over 60 airports, selected from each continent from m1nd-set’s unique database will be asked to rate the food and beverage offer.

“DFI is growing rapidly in the global travel retail industry, which is hardly surprising considering they promise to increase consumer spend and significantly reduce plastic waste.

“Their support for the 2020 event is especially significant given the fact that we have just announced a new award for next year’s event to recognise green initiatives in the travel retail industry.”
