Food Accademia to display full luxury Italian brand offering at TRMarketplace

By Andrew Pentol |

Food Accademia is to bring a full selection of luxury Italian brands to next month’s TRMarketplace digital event.

The growing supplier of authentic, original Italian fine foods and beverages for travel retail and foodservice was created by Fabrizio Canal in 2015. Canal himself recently participated in the TRBusiness Talking TRMarketplace video series.

Food Accademia works with 50 brands and will represent 16 of those, covering the fine foods, wines & spirits and confectionery at the upcoming event.

The company has experienced steady growth over the last three years. By 2019 it was working with leading retailers including Lagardère Travel Retail and Dufry Group in Italy and the wider European market.

Its full brand offering for TRMarketplace, includes many labels which are family-owned and operated. The selection comprises; dessert, pastry and biscuit experts Amaretti Virginia; Cà dei Frati winemakers; prosecco producers from Casa Gheller; distillers of delicate grappa Castagnerl; the Ceci winery; artisan pasticceri Flamigni; Italian coffee roasters Hausbrandt; and Loredan Gasparini, producer of one of the world’s top 100 wines.

FULL BRAND OFFERING

The remainder of the offer will feature; winemakers Ornella Molon; artisanal pasta makers Pasta d’Aragona; organic, agricultural oils and preserves by Quattrociocchi (pictured below), Sommariva, makers of fine, extra virgin olive oil since the 19th Century; truffles from T&C Tartufi; sustainable winemakers Tasca D’Almerita; organic chocolate producers and confectioners Torre Saracena; and Zàini Milano, makers of fine chocolate for 100 years.

In addition to offering the aforementioned products primarily for travel retail, Food Accademia is developing its foodservice business for selected brands and products such as meats, cheeses and wines.

The company will attend TR Marketplace with a new website showcasing all partner brands. The site will include an e-commerce section offering consumers the chance to purchase the ingredients for classic Italian dishes.

Canal and his team will introduce a selection of products from the Food Accademia range to retailers through TRMarketplace. This is in line with its belief that Italian fine foods have strong travel retail potential outside Italy.

He said: “Our team is able to select the right products according to culture and market trends in each country and region. TR Marketplace provides us the opportunity to showcase our variety of Italian brands to retailers, to ‘virtually’ meet with our existing and new customers and build our business as we head towards 2021.

“Our new Food Accademia website with its e-commerce section will also create further recognition of our brand within airports. That can only help awareness of our offer and drive sales. We’re very excited to present travel retail and duty free buyers with a portfolio that is unique to the sector.”

Food Accademia is also developing a new Free Standing Display Unit, details of which will be available shortly.
