Gategroup forges commercial alliance with Immfly ‘to disrupt airline retail’
By Luke Barras-hill |

The partnership introduces ‘one of the most expansive and technologically advanced retail operations in aviation’, according to both companies.
Switzerland-headquartered gategroup has entered into what it says is a ‘groundbreaking strategic alliance in onboard retail technology’ with Immfly Group.
The agreement positions Immfly Group as gategroup’s preferred partner in areas such as crew applications, payment solutions, in-seat ordering, back-office solutions and more, according to a joint statement.
Airline passengers will benefit from a harmonised universal wi-fi platform, in-seat ordering and EPOS system, and omni-channel service to order their meals and inflight retail products on a pre-order basis or at-seat.
Gategroup’s gateretail will couple its industry knowledge and strong track record of success in designing and implementing inflight retail programmes for airlines globally with Immfly’s digital solutions that are designed to enhance the cabin experience.
Together, the companies will offer a fully integrated inflight retail platform featuring a state-of-the art digital storefront, personalised product recommendations, alongside an efficient and secure payment system, the statement continues.
Airlines: Additional revenue opportunities
In addition, airline partners have opportunities to drive additional revenue via internet access, newly accessible content and offers using Immfly’s agnostic and integrated platform built using open architecture.

The new partnership is said to deliver a ‘fully integrated inflight retail platform’ for the benefit of customers and travellers.
“We are excited to partner with Immfly to bring our inflight retail solutions to the next level and help drive an integrated solution for our combined airline partners around the world,” said Fernando Guinea, Managing Director of gateretail. “Our collective expertise will enable us to provide airlines with a comprehensive, seamless and engaging retail and entertainment experience that not only meets the needs of today’s passengers but helps drive incremental revenue channels for our partners.”
Jimmy M. von Korff, Co-founder and Executive Chairman of Immfly Group, added: “By combining our digital expertise with gateretail’s retail acumen, we’re poised to offer a revolutionary, integrated digital experience within airline cabins. This enhanced approach allows airlines unprecedented customisation, enabling them to finetune their digital strategy to meet both operational demands and individual passenger needs.
“We are excited to join forces with gateretail as we continue our shared ambition to elevate the global travel experience to our airline partners worldwide.”
Founded in 2013, Barcelona-based Immfly Group provides onboard digital solutions to the airline industry with its services adopted by 40 leading global customers, reaching more than 2,000 aircraft worldwide.
Gategroup is a leading player in airline catering, retail onboard and hospitality products and services. Gateretail provides inflight retail programmes to more than 20 airline customers across the world.
