Gebr. Heinemann completes purchase of Scorpio business

Gebr. Heinemann has reached an agreement with CEO of Scorpio Worldwide, Stuart McGuire to complete the purchase of subsidiary Heinemann Scorpio International Holdings Ltd, thereby transferring the Scorpio business to the global DF&TR operator in Hamburg.


As reported by TRBusiness back in 2007, Heinemann formally confirmed that it planned to take a 51% share in the UK-based inflight specialist, which then boasted listings onboard around 160 airlines.


McGuire will continue in his current position as CEO of Scorpio until the official handover later this year, when he will then take up a newly created role for Heinemann – which has not yet been decided – still very much connected with the inflight business he founded in 1997. McGuire will remain in the UK.


The two companies have significantly developed their inflight business since their original partnership in 2006 and are now one of the largest providers of products to the global market, either through regular or exclusive supply contracts.


Heinemann currently operates several exclusive supply contracts for airlines and concessionaires in Europe. Scorpio Worldwide Ltd is a wholesale supplier to most major airlines and concessionaires globally.
