Italian leather goods company Furla has announced the appointment of Gerry Munday as its new Head of Travel Retail with immediate effect. The company says Munday will head the global strategy aimed at strengthening and developing the brand’s travel retail presence worldwide.

Gerry Munday joins Furla from MCM, where she successfully built up the company’s global distribution over the past four and a half years as Global Travel Retail Director. Prior to that she spent 20 years with Bally, initially covering domestic markets before moving to In-Flight and Travel Retail.

Commenting on her new appointment, Munday said: “This is a new challenge for me, but staying within the fashion accessories category which I know and love. This is an exciting time for Furla which is strengthening its focus on travel retail and I am delighted to be working with the brand, as it moves forward into this new phase.

“Furla will, as usual, be exhibiting at TFWA World Exhibition this year and I am very much looking forward to meeting customers – old and new.”

Furla was founded in 1927 in Bologna, Italy and claims to be one of the major players in the worldwide leather goods market. It is currently present in 63 countries with 319 single-branded shops situated on ‘the most prestigious international shopping streets’.
