Travel Retail Awards judging almost complete; finalists revealed in August!

The judging process for the consumer-voted 2023 Global Travel Retail Awards is almost complete, with the finalists set to be revealed early August.

Organised by TRBusiness and m1nd-set, the Travel Retail Awards is the duty free and travel retail industry’s only awards programme that’s voted for entirely by consumers.

Entries for this year’s edition closed on Friday 2 June 2023. Now, the results are in the hands of our 5,000 consumer judges, sourced from m1nd-set’s unique database of international travelling consumers, as well as our panel of influencers with a combined following of more than one million.

Members of the influencer panel have the added benefit of experiencing the products first-hand at our judging weekend in London, which took place earlier this month.

As well as submitting their scores, on a range of criteria, which are allocated using a 10 point scale, the influencer panel is providing personalised, written feedback on each entry, which is collated and delivered directly to the entrants.

This valuable feedback can be utilised to further refine products, or the approach to promotions and initiatives moving forward, for even greater success.

The votes from our influencer panel represents 20% of the total score.

The remaining 80% comes from the 5,000 consumers sourced from m1nd-set’s unique database – each of whom have travelled through an airport within the past six months.

As you can see from the infographic below, once the evaluations from all the consumer judges have been collected, the scores are calculated and the finalist benchmark is set for each category.

2023 Global Travel Retail Awards

TRBusiness has been bowled over by the influx of entries to the 2023 Global Travel Retail Awards, which is now in its sixth year.

The total number of entries submitted is 38% higher than in 2022, with a bumper influx of product entries and an impressive number of consumer-conscious stakeholders being attracted by the refreshed lineup of promotion and CSR awards.

Sustainability has emerged as a key focus for this year’s participants, with related categories commanding a 9% share of entries. Plus, those entering other categories are communicating sustainability and CSR as key aspects of their submissions.

The grand ceremony is taking place once again in Cannes, this time at Hôtel Martinez on the evening of Tuesday 3 October to coincide with the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference. Tickets will go on sale soon. Stay close to TRBusiness.com for details.
