Grant appoints Persson

By Administrator |

Scotch whisky producer William Grant & Sons has appointed Ylva Persson as Duty Free Director. Persson replaces Bob Downing who is retiring. Persson previously served as Marketing Director at Bacardi Global Duty Free.

Persson's move signals more change ahead at Bacardi, which earlier this month appointed Maurice Doyle to the position of Managing Director, Global Travel Retail.
Persson previously worked for TBWA on the Absolut Vodka account. She was also involved in the creation of the brand/company Svensk vodka. She joined Bacardi in September 2003.
The appointment is the latest in a series of appointments at William Grant. It recently appointed Neil Brettell as Global Brand Director for Grant's Scotch whisky and Fiona Burles as the Global Brand Director for Glenfiddich. They will report to the newly-appointed Global Marketing Director Steven Sturgeon.
Brettell joins the company from Allied Domecq where he was brand director for Ballantine's. Burles has worked at William Grant & Sons for four years on the Grant's brand and recently developed the new global 'Try a different angle' campaign for the four-million case Scotch whisky.
Sturgeon has also appointed two new Glenfiddich Global Brand Managers, Christophe Prat and Liz Hodgson, both formerly from Allied Domecq and they will be supported by newly-appointed Glenfiddich Brand Manager Sylvia Lowe who joins the company from Diageo.
A new global brand director for The Balvenie, the company's esoteric single malt, is still to be appointed.
