French beauty house Guerlain is tapping into the trend for double-cleaning with the launch of a new two-step cleansing ritual in the Orchidée Impériale Blue range, featuring an Oil in Gel and Foam in Cream.

The products are designed to help keep the complexion looking healthy, soft and luminous. As such, they’re packed with a high concentration of skincare ingredients to help maintain hydration levels and are described as the first key steps in the Orchidée Impériale ‘longevity ritual’.

Step one, the Oil in Gel, is an oil-based formula that dissolves greasy substances and lipophilic impurities such as make-up (including waterproof formulations) along with sebum that has been oxidised by the air.

It has been formulated with 40% skincare oil and features 98% naturally-derived ingredients. Jojoba oil, for instance, helps to dissolve and remove impurities and make-up without drying out the skin.

Furthermore, the orchid oleoconcentrate, is said to help stimulate lipid flows in skin by supplying it with omega 6s,  7s and  9s.

The translucent oil-in-gel texture liquifies on touch and melts into an oil. Upon contact with water, it turns into a fine milky veil. It can be used on the face, eyes and lips.

The second step, The Foam in Cream foaming cleanser, can be applied after The Oil in Gel in the evening or on its own in the morning.

Key steps in Guerlain’s ‘longevity ritual’.

The formulation is enriched with a ‘biotechnological ingredient’ obtained from a micro-organism isolated from a natural clay, which helps to tackle impurities and pollution microparticles.

Formulated with a 50% skincare base, The Foam in Cream combines Orchid Totum molecular extract with Orchid Equilibrium technology, to help maintain the skin’s balance.

Its pearly texture turns into a rich and creamy foam on contact with water.  It deeply cleanses, is soft on the skin and rinses off easily.

As well as promoting a healthy looking complexion, Guerlain says that the double cleaning routine helps the skin to be more receptive to skincare products when applied.

Guerlain’s ‘longevity ritual’ is sealed by The Cream Orchidée Impérial, which is available in three textures: a rich cream, a cream and a light cream. Each are designed to infuse the skin with moisture and reflect light for a more youthful appearance.

More products in the range are The Essence-Lotion Concentrate, The Micro-Lift Concentrate, the Molecular Concentrate Cream and The Orchidée Impériale The Cream.

The products became available from March 2025.
