Guests dive in to expansive and interactive retail onboard MSC Seashore

By Charlotte Turner |

New flagship vessel, MSC Seashore described as MSC Cruises’ ‘most innovative next-generation ship to-date’ welcomed guests onboard for the first time at the weekend, and became the 19th ship to join the line’s fleet.

As reported, the ship’s ‘seamless, open-space design’ allows guests to flow from shop-to-shop without physical barriers and with interactive ways to experience the product range.

Guests boarded from Barcelona, Marseille, and Genoa on Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively, while more guests will be welcomed on board the first Seaside EVO ship today in Naples as part of an inaugural seven-night western Mediterranean itinerary.

MSC Seashore will then call Messina in Sicily, for Taormina and Mount Etna, then on to Valetta in Malta, and then Barcelona, Marseille and back to Genoa.

“[We have] raised the bar once more on our cruise retailing evolution as we set sail from Barcelona with our first guests,” said Adrian Pittaway, MSC Head of Retail on Linkedin.

TIMES SQUARE RETAIL CONCEPT

He revealed that the new ship has three floors brimming with high interactive ‘retailtainment’ featuring a Times Square retail concept.

“Alongside this, beautiful new retail stores designed to be open, integrated and welcoming with 75% more retail space than onboard MSC Seaside, featuring many new exciting brand launches and more to come when we reach Miami later in the year. Fully integrated instore experience spaces also feature across the 11 stores.”

Pittaway was keen to highlight the new MSC Foundation store which sits at the base of a four-storey Venini glass sculpture, “educating, inspiring and showing a really different way to offer logo merchandise that will make a real difference to many projects around the globe.”

On Linkedin Pittaway thanked onboard retail colleagues along with the company’s support team and partners, who have delivered “not only our second new ship launch in three months, but also in my opinion our most exciting and innovative retail concept to date.”

CLEANER AIR EMISSIONS

Following the summer season in the western Mediterranean, MSC Seashore will complete an 18-night transatlantic Grand Voyage cruise to Miami, US calling along her way.

The dedicated retail space spans 971sq m across three decks and is located in the heart of MSC Seashore’s Times Square.

Once in Miami, MSC Seashore will offer seven-night cruises with two different itineraries. The first, in the West Caribbean, calls Ocho Rios in Jamaica, George Town in the Cayman Islands, Cozumel in Mexico.

The second, in the East Caribbean calls San Juan in Puerto Rico, Charlotte Amalie on the island of St Thomas, Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. Every cruise includes a call at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC Cruises’ new private island in The Bahamas.

Among other features the new ship features next-generation environmental technology to minimise the ship’s environmental footprint and ensuring even cleaner air emissions.
