Strategic retail property consultancy Harper Dennis Hobbs has been appointed by Beauty by Holition to launch its new virtual ‘try on’ experience into GTR.

The new virtual try-on and diagnostics tool is an advanced artificial intelligence and augmented reality-powered cosmetics solution that elevates the beauty retail experience.

The technology is designed to adapt to any face across any skin tone allowing consumers to virtually apply over 10 different types of beauty products — calibrated and modified by colour, opacity, shine, undertone and overtone.

Harper Dennis Hobbs says the technology is positioned to enhance the shopping experience for passengers at airports, inflight, on cruise liners and ferries and at downtown duty free stores.

Customers such as Kiko Milano, Charlotte Tilbury, Maxfactor and Rimmel have increased sales and visibility on their platforms by integrating Beauty by Holition’s technology.

Commenting on the announcement, Simon Black, executive director, Harper Dennis Hobbs said: “We are delighted to be working alongside Beauty by Holition within the global travel retail sector. We look forward to working with our partners to launch this new technology and believe that this will be a mainstay in the future of the cosmetics market.

Consumers using the technology can virtually apply more than 10 different types of beauty products, according to Harper Dennis Hobbs.

“Due to the impact of Covid-19 on consumer shopping habits, people may not feel comfortable testing cosmetics in the same way that they did previously. This technology is the ideal way to interact with consumers before they fly by enabling them to have the confidence to click and collect while also engaging them in-store.

“Consumers will be able to test the cosmetics on their own devices or through the use of in-store tablets, while the staff will still be able to help, inform and share brand knowledge.”

The likes of Kiko Milano, Charlotte Tilbury, Maxfactor and Rimmel have already benefited from integrating Beauty by Holition’s technology.

The augmented reality try-on experience is powered by Beauty by Holition’s self-originated and patented Face technology. The patented technology uses image-processing and machine-learning algorithms to enable ultra-fast and accurate real-time face tracking and makeup visualisations.

Sam Arkless, Chief product Officer, Beauty by Holition added: “Technology has an important role in the future of beauty retail. Beauty by Holition is fully committed to helping brands from all over the world elevate their customer experience and retail strategy through our full suite of virtual cosmetics solutions, powered by our core Face by Holition technology.”
