Hendrick’s to launch new tropical tipple Amazonia exclusively in travel retail

Hendrick's-Amazonia-gin-leadAt the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes, William Grant & Sons offered journalists a sneak preview – and sampling opportunity – of Hendrick’s Amazonia; the next instalment from Master Distiller Lesley Gracie’s ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’. 

 

Hendrick’s Amazonia, which will be available from March 2020 as an exclusive to Global Travel Retail, is described as ‘a bright and tropical gin’ and was inspired by Gracie’s three-week stay with a nomadic tribe in the Amazon rainforest (Venezuela) back in 2013.

 

At that time Gracie journeyed to the heart of the Venezuelan Amazon to explore and experiment with the rare botanicals of the unique eco-system. In the year that followed Hendrick’s actually created a variant with the inclusion of a newly uncovered ingredient from the region, Scorpion tail, and called it ‘Kanaracuni’.

 

However, the Amazonia expression is rather more inspired by the memories of Gracie’s adventures and does not include an ingredient native to the region this time.

 

“The liquid accentuates the existing signature cucumber and rose elements of Hendrick’s Gin, but also reveals bright, tropical flavour characteristics inspired by the native Amazon flora,” says the brand.

 

GRACIE: ‘PROFOUND LOVE FOR NATURE’

“I have always had a profound love for nature and a fascination with the wondrous botanicals and essences of the world”, said Hendrick’s Master Distiller Ms. Lesley Gracie.

“A number of years ago, I embarked on the adventure of a lifetime when I travelled to the Venezuelan Rainforest where I had the opportunity to explore and experiment with the local exotic eco-system. It was this unique and inspiring experience which motivated me to create Hendrick’s Amazonia”.

 

To celebrate the launch of this new expression from the world’s number one Super Premium Gin, Hendrick’s Amazonia has partnered with One Tree Planted, a global environmental organisation committed to reforestation efforts in the Amazon rainforest.

 

In addition to the aforementioned press conference William Grant & Sons also hosted an evening celebration in Cannes offering guests the chance to hear more about the new variant and to sample the new liquid.
