German-Spanish drinks group Henkell Freixenet has launched herbal liqueur Mionetto Aperitivo into the global travel retail channel as it targets the growing opportunity in Italian spritz drinks.
Made from an Italian recipe, Mionetto Aperitivo is said to offer a “distinctive” flavour that pairs well with Prosecco.
The liqueur is bright orange in colour and its recipe includes sweet red oranges, liquorice and botanicals, alongside 100% natural flavours.
A Mionetto Spritz gift pack has been launched in the GTR channel which features a 500ml bottle of the Aperitivo alongside a bottle of Mionetto Prosecco DOC Treviso.
To make the suggested serve, three parts Prosecco and two parts Aperitivo are poured over ice in a wine glass, topped with a splash of soda or sparkling water and garnished with a slice of orange.
Henkell Freixenet is planning brand activations for the launch of the gift pack.
“The presentation of our new Mionetto Aperitivo during the TFWA Asia Pacific [Exhibition] was a big success,” said Christian Witte, Head of Sales GTR, Henkell Freixenet.
“It’s an opportunity for Mionetto to enter the spritz market with a premium aperitivo and we will continue this campaign message for our GTR partners at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes.
“With its bittersweet taste, carefully crafted following our own recipe with fresh and 100% natural aromas, we are delivering all the pleasure of a perfect Venetia style spritz in a more premiumised version.”
Last month, Henkell shared a brand refresh for its eponymous wine brand, featuring an embossed, high-shine Henkell lily for a more contemporary look.
In summer 2022, the business hosted a sparkling wine pop-up at Berlin Airport’s Terminal 2, showcasing Henkell Trocken, Henkell Rosé and Henkell Brut Vintage.
The wider Henkell Freixenet stable includes I heart Wines, Schloss Johannisberg, and Barceló Rum.
The business has a vision to represent one in ten glasses of sparkling wine served worldwide in the “medium term”.
