Hollywood actor Patrick Dempsey fronts Silhouette Icon campaign

Silhouette has officially announced that Hollywood actor, Patrick Dempsey, is the new face for the Austrian eyewear company’s Icon campaign featuring the Titan Minimal Art model, first introduced in 1999.

 

Dempsey who played the role of Dr Derek Shepherd in the hit US TV series, Grey’s Anatomy, was presented as the company’s new spokesmodel at the Mido exhibition in Milan, which took place last week where around 100 international journalists attended a Silhouette press conference.

“Patrick Dempsey’s personality wins us over, and will certainly win over our fans as well,” says Arnold Schmied, co-owner and Chairman of Silhouette International.

The Silhouette campaign “An Icon for an Icon” with Patrick Dempsey will be seen nearly all over the world from March to October 2013, first at selected opticians, then in select media.

 

When asked what was important to Dempsey about his eyewear, he said: “Style, comfort, fit on my face and quality of the lens; these things make a big difference if you’re in a car or on a plane, where you want to have protection from the sun. I look for a light frame and something stylish.

“I was amazed at how comfortable [the Titan Minimal Art model is], lightweight and stylistic. They are really well made, have a really light frame, and are very comfortable.”

 

Silhouette claims that it revolutionised the eyewear market in 1999, with its 1.8g lightweight, rimless eyewear Titan Minimal Art, without screws or hinges.

 

According to Silhouette, the brand’s eyewear has been worn by astronauts in space more than 35 times, has also toured the world with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and with a number of greats from the worlds of entertainment, business and politics.
