Debut for Brugal Reserva
By Doug Newhouse |
Next month’s IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas will see two travel retail exclusives – Brugal Extra Viejo Reserva and Brugal Añejo Reserva – make their debuts in Orlando. Both will be distributed by Rémy Cointreau Travel Retail Americas on behalf of The Edrington Group.
The company said: “Created by Brugal’s own Maestros Roneros (master rum makers), Brugal Añejo Reserva and Brugal Extra Viejo Reserva retain the incomparably smooth, suave character typical of Brugal rums.
“Rich in colour and intense in flavour, these expressions owe their superior quality to the marriage of fine rums aged in the Brugal cellars and many years of gentle, unhurried maturation. As a result of the rich character of the rums selected, the rum requires longer to reach the optimal smooth, rounded flavour.”
EXCLUSIVE TO DUTY FREE
Commenting on the development, André de Almeida, Area Manager UK and Global Travel Retail, The Edrington Group said: “Brugal has taken the bold decision to create two superb aged rums which are not only distinctive and premium in their taste profile but are exclusive to the duty free market.
“Travellers delight in finding elite products from familiar and trusted brands which they will not find in their local store. Brugal Añejo Reserva and Brugal Extra Viejo Reserva are magnificent additions to the Brugal family.”
Brugal is the only rum sourced and made entirely in the Dominican Republic. It was founded in 1888 and is now a 4.7m case brand. It is also ranked the top rum in the Caribbean market and number one brand in Spain – the biggest European golden rum market.
The two expressions are presented in smart blue and gold livery designed to reinforce ‘the heritage and authenticity’ of the brand with the Brugal shield and ‘Desde 1888’ prominently displayed and a background of oak casks on the label to emphasise the importance of aging. Both have an ABV of 38%.
