Ian Macleod Distillers unveils new look for King Robert II & three new whiskies
By Faye Bartle |
Ian Macleod Distillers has unveiled a brand refresh for its best-selling King Robert II portfolio, which is being showcased with introduction of three new blended whiskies.
The new expressions include the brand’s first ever age-statement whiskies – one of which is a global travel retail (GTR) exclusive.
“King Robert II is Ian Macleod Distillers’ top selling brand within global travel retail and we are absolutely thrilled to have launched the new look packaging and three stunning new expressions (8yo, 12yo, Sherry Cask Finish), which we are confident will add variety and value to the blended Scotch whisky category,” said William Ovens, Global Travel Retail Director, Ian Macleod Distillers.
The GTR exclusive expression, the Robert II 8 years old (RRP 1L €19.90/US$20.15) has a higher malt content, compared to other blends, and is targeted at value-orientated shoppers looking for something special.
The King Robert II 12 years old (RRP 1L €27.90/US$28.26), which is the flagship expression, is described as ‘an aspirational blend for existing King Robert II drinkers’ complete with an attractive price point.

The King Robert II Sherry Cask Finish is launching exclusively in travel retail with Duty Free Trading Latvija.
The King Robert II Sherry Cask (RRP 1L €19.90/US$20.15) has been finished for six months in sherry casks, giving rise to a rich flavour at a value price point.
It is launching in the travel retail channel exclusively with IMD’s long term partner, Duty Free Trading Latvija, which is a leading border store and airport operator in Eastern Europe.
This is a key region for King Robert II sales, in addition to the Middle East and Asia.
The existing, repackaged Treble Cask Matured blended whisky completes the four-strong line-up of whiskies in the King Robert II range.

King Robert II gin is a traditional London Dry gin made in England and featuring a range of natural botanicals, such as juniper berries, orange and lemon peel, cardamom seeds and unusually grains of paradise.
The introduction of the trio of new whiskies coincides with the wider King Robert II brand refresh, which has been rolled out across the portfolio to its vodka, gin, white rum and dark rum products.
