Rosebank 32 Year Old launch signing

Rosebank’s Distillery Manager Malcolm Rennie signs Rosebank Vintage 1990 32 Years Old certificates at a World Duty Free launch event

Scottish family-owned business Ian Macleod has partnered with World Duty Free, China Duty Free Group and Sunrise Duty Free to launch TR-exclusive Rosebank 32 Year Old.

The expression is the second of five releases in the GTR Rosebank Vintage Series. The collection coincides with the imminent, long-awaited return to distilling at the Falkirk-based Rosebank Distillery.

Ian Macleod acquired the distillery and its remaining stocks in October 2017. The site will reopen 30 years after the stills fell silent.

Limited to just 350 bottles, Rosebank 32 Year Old has been triple distilled and condensed using traditional worm tubs.

Given tasting notes include Victoria sponge, pineapple and caramelised pecans on the nose. Citrus, peach and butter icing follow on the palate, along with a gently spiced finish.

The expression is presented in a red wooden cylinder with copper detailing. The bottle features an engraved rose, and is offered alongside a certificate of authenticity.

Rosebank 32 Year Old launches in July, priced at £3,900/US$4,750. In Europe the bottling is available via World Duty Free, while China Duty Free Group and Sunrise Duty Free are named as Asia partners.

A launch event for the release was held at Edinburgh Airport with World Duty Free on 1 July 2023.

Rosebank 32 Year Old limited edition

The distillery’s brand status has soared in recent years. Sales analyst Rare Whisky 101 named Rosebank as the world’s second most collectable. Noble & Co’s Whisky Intelligence Report, which tracks secondary market sales, ranked Rosebank as top single malt in terms of average price per bottle.

The remaining releases in the Rosebank Vintage Series will be released over the next seven years.

“We are delighted to partner with three of the world’s leading travel retail operators to launch this limited-edition and exclusive Rosebank Vintage, which will thereafter be available to a very limited number of other luxury retailers,” said Ian Macleod Distillers Travel Retail Director, William Ovens.

“With distillation under Ian Macleod Distillers starting this summer and Rosebank Distillery opening to the public in 2024, it is a very exciting time for the brand.”

Last month, Ian Macleod Distillers released a pair of single malts into UK travel retail: The White Cask First-Fill Edition and Shieldaig American Oak Reserve.
