London Heathrow Airport today (17 February) opened its InMotion store at Terminal 3, the first in a series of main shops from the airport-based electronics retailer due to unveil across the airport’s terminals.

Featuring a full LED portal, the T3 shop’s fascia attracts passengers who can meander instore to discover some experiential elements.

Fraser Brown, Retail Director, Heathrow Airport told TRBusiness: “This is our first full refresh as we get into our relationship with the WHSmith Group post the Dixons [Travel] exit, with more store openings to come across Heathrow in the coming months.”

As reported in a trade media exclusive, TRBusiness revealed impressions last month of newly opened retail units at Heathrow Airport Terminal 2 following an on-location walkthrough.

This publication was on site at The Queen’s Terminal last month to speak to Brown following the unveiling of the terminal’s first InMotion pop-up boutique (45sq m) in December

This morning London Heathrow has fully opened its T3 InMotion store.

Heathrow Airport has opened the first of InMotion’s main shops, complete with a full LED portal.

As the newest retail concession to join the lineup at T2, the electronics and travel accessories pop-up is located between The Perfectionists’ Café (443sq m) and London’s Pride by Fuller’s (491sq m) at departures level 5 (check-in).

Inside the TRBusiness February ezine, Brown also spoke to TRBusiness about the loss of the airside tax free sales concession (excluding L&T) at UK airports and the VAT Retail Export Scheme following Brexit.

He said the ‘tourism tax’ on sales has hurt businesses, including those in luxury, explaining that the airport remains focused on securing some form of vat-free shopping at the terminals.

“We continue to lobby government, both as Heathrow and as part of the wider industry, to get some sort of tax free shopping back,” he continued.
