Lasse Berg appointment adds clout to Newmark’s travel retail growth

By Luke Barras-hill |

Lasse Berg brings a wealth of retail operations experience to his new role at Newmark, having worked for Copenhagen Airports and electronics retailer Capi.

Newmark Retail UK & EMEA has bolstered its strategic travel retail team with the recruitment of Lasse Berg as Director.

Based in Denmark, Berg is tasked with helping to identify and capitalise on key growth opportunities for the airport operators and retail brand partners that work with Newmark Retail’s London-based travel retail division, part of global commercial real estate advisory Newmark Group.

His CV includes five years as Head of Retail Business Partners at Copenhagen Airports A/S, where he steered an expert team across all categories to support the airport’s commercial partners in optimising stores’ performances and customer experience.

He was instrumental in preparing commercial plans for the DKK 5 billion/$733 million expansion of Copenhagen Airport, which is on track to complete during 2027.

The expansion will offer a more spacious footprint covering baggage reclaim, passport control, shopping and passenger facilities.

Prior to this, Berg ran the Scandinavian airport business for airport electronics retailer Capi and enjoyed a successful spell running domestic operations in Scandinavia for outdoor apparel brand Peak Performance.

Simon Black, Executive Managing Director and Head of Travel Retail, Newmark Retail: “I am delighted to have Lasse join the business, and his appointment further strengthens an already amazingly talented team.”

Lasse added: “I have developed a wealth of knowledge in the travel industry from one of the best and most commercially recognised airports in Europe while having been responsible for large retail operations in airports.

“I’ve experienced first-hand the exceptional reputation Newmark’s travel retail team holds in the industry and the value they create when advising and supporting clients in growing their travel retail.

“It was a meaningful decision for me to join a team of inspiring individuals who work relentlessly to add value and opportunity for the extensive client base that collaborates with Newmark.”
