L’Occitane names Laurent Marteau Group MD as firm drives transformation

The L’Occitane Group has announced a duo of high-profile appointments as the company moves forward with plans to drive its transformation into a ‘global, multi-brand group’.
Laurent Marteau has been appointed L’Occitane Group Managing Director, effective 1 September 2022.
“We are delighted to welcome Laurent to further drive our transformation into a global, multi-brand group,” said André Hoffmann, Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the L’Occitane Group.
“His in-depth knowledge of the global beauty industry will be a real asset to accelerate our long-standing omni-channel strategy in our key markets.”
Marteau brings over 20 years’ experience in the global beauty industry to the role, having previously worked for the LVMH Group for 15 years in various senior management positions.
Marteau, who is an IEP Lyon and EM Lyon Business School graduate, has also held high-level positions at La Prairie Group, including as VP for Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa.
Also newly-appointed is Estelle de Bure, who has taken on the role of Managing Director, Global Travel Retail, effective 1 July 2022.
A statement released by the company described the promotion as recognising de Bure’s flair for ‘entrepreneurial leadership’, which she has demonstrated since joining the Group in 2010.
Her successes have included developing the Melvita brand, including its travel retail business in Asia Pacific.
She will be responsible for ‘driving growth and profitability for the Group’s multi-brand travel retail business to fully leverage the growth potential of this channel’ while continuing to supervise the APAC development of travel retail directly.
Estelle will report to Marteau.
Ekaterina Ievleva, EMEA & Americas Travel Retail GM and Mona L’Hostis, Head of Global Travel Retail Marketing now report into de Bure.
