LIVE: Tobacco, inflight and luxury in February e-zine

By Luke Barras-hill |

Dedicated reports on luxury re-imagined, inflight and tobacco grace the pages of the TRBusiness February e-zine, which is now live and available to view by clicking the cover below.

Inside, viewers and readers will discover an exclusive interview with Heathrow Retail Director Fraser Brown, who spoke to TRBusiness during a recent on-site walkthrough of the new retail proposition at Terminal 2 (The Queen’s Terminal).

LHR LIFTS THE LID ON LATEST RETAIL

The loss of the airside tax free sales concession (excluding L&T) at airports and the VAT Retail Export Scheme in January last year following Brexit was ‘not a pain free decision’, Brown reiterated to TRBusiness in a video interview, with the ‘tourism tax’ on sales hurting businesses including those in luxury.

He explains that the airport remains focused on securing some form of vat-free shopping at the terminals.

“We continue to lobby government, both as Heathrow and as part of the wider industry, to get some sort of tax free shopping back,” he continued.

Within the e-zine, TRBusiness presents a 14-page tobacco report that delves into tobacco, nicotine alternatives and shisha/hookah.

What role is tobacco, a category historically strong in stimulating cross-category sales and baskets, playing in the recovery? This, along with other pressing questions are explored in more detail, with category and sub-category research and data courtesy of Pi Insight.

Meanwhile, TRBusiness examines where inflight retail is currently positioned and whether the malaise in airline retail revenues in the years leading up to the pandemic has meant fundamental changes to the operating model.

Plus, don’t miss a new feature on ‘luxury re-imagined’, with commentary from leading authorities in the market including Harper Dennis Hobbs, Positive Luxury, Rituals and a conversation with Imagen Insights CEO Jay Richard who offers brutally honest insights from Gen-Z consumers.

This, alongside all your regulars – News, Sustainability Forum, Counter Intelligence, People News and Now & Then – can be explored in the February 2022 e-zine by clicking here.
