LIVE: TRBusiness June/July e-zine & Top 10 Airports

By Luke Barras-hill |

TRBusiness is pleased to announce that the June/July e-zine including the annual Top 10 Airports is now live.

This bumper issue pours focus on the busiest airports in 2021 as ranked by ACI World and based on international passenger traffic volumes.

Turn the pages for detailed interviews with senior airport and retail executives at Dubai Airports, Istanbul, Amsterdam Schiphol, Fraport, Groupe ADP, Hamad International, London Heathrow, Antalya, AENA and Cancún.

Against a backdrop of spiralling inflationary cost pressures, supply chain volatility, conflict in Europe, and rising coronavirus transmissions, TRBusiness asks operators for their appraisals on air transport’s current recovery trajectory, and what that means for their respective commercial businesses as international travel and border restrictions (in most regions) unlock.

Big moves in Madrid

In the cover interview, TRBusiness speaks to retail and commercial chiefs at Spain’s airport operator Aena.

Aena, which manages 46 airports in Spain, closed out 2021 with 119,959,671 passengers – a 57.7% lift year-on-year (56.4% down on 2019) as it more than halved its losses to €60 million (€126.8m in 2020).

The landlord reveals to TRBusiness that 190 retail locations spanning approximately 23,500sq m have been put to bid across Aena’s estate since November, 52 units of which are located at Madrid-Barajas Airport with leading brands such as Desigual, Rituals, JD Sport, Hugo Boss, Salvatore Ferragamo, Samsonite, WHSmith and Victoria’s Secret.

A significant F&B tender over more than 19,000sq m and 55 locations is due to launch later this year, ahead of Aena’s highly billed duty free tender and the strategic planning is gaining speed, TRBusiness can update.

Inside, you’ll also discover a 12-page report on fashion, accessories, watches & jewellery with contributions from Pi Insight, Rodenstock, Duty Free Dynamics, E. Gluck Corp, Maui Jim, Gebr. Heinemann, Lagardère Travel Retail, Artisan People, BlackJack Promotions, Harper Dennis Hobbs and Qatar Duty Free.

Plus, digest the key talking points from TFWA Asia Pacific Live in Singapore, where TRBusiness was involved in hosting two panel sessions, and hear from Mars International Travel Retail on its essential takeaways from Travel Retail Sustainability Week 2022, hosted by TRBusiness.

This isn’t to forget all your regulars: from news to the Sustainability Forum, and opinion via our Leader and Now & Then sections. Watch out too for the ‘Plus’ and ‘Play’ buttons to interactive with a wealth of dynamic content and multimedia creatives. Enjoy.
