Mars Wrigley ITR to support Travel Retail Awards for third consecutive year
By Charlotte Turner |
For the third consecutive year, Mars Wrigley International Travel Retail has announced its support of the Travel Retail Awards, as a Platinum Sponsor of the only consumer-voted awards dedicated to the duty free and travel retail industry.
Recognising the ingenuity of the awards and the undeniable benefits to all who participate, Mars Wrigley ITR has supported the Travel Retail Awards since TRBusiness and m1nd-set first launched the initiative three years ago.
Earlier this year, the company cited the event and initiative as an ‘essential tool’ offering ‘honest’ and ‘relevant opinions’ from the people that matter the most; the end-consumer.
Upon renewing its sponsorship for the 2020 awards, Raghav Rekhi, Mars Wrigley ITR Category Director said: “At Mars Wrigley ITR, we want to make treating and snacking better for travellers.
“As today’s travellers are getting more diverse and growing in numbers, it is more relevant than ever to include them in the conversation about the industry.
“That is what the Travel Retail Awards do, and in doing so, they help us all make the travel retail experience more fun for those at the heart of it: our consumers.”
As reported in September, contenders for the only consumer-voted awards in the travel retail industry can now submit their entries for the 2020 event.
The second edition of the awards programme this year saw a marked surge in interest with double-digit growth in the number of participating companies, in recognition of the awards’ legitimacy following the successful launch of the consumer awards in 2018.

Mars International Travel Retail has made significant investments in direct-to-consumer communication outside of travel retail stores, as it did so engagingly in July with its Full Throttle M&M’s campaign throughout Schiphol Airport.
THIRD EDITION IN 2020
The third edition in 2020 is expected to attract even more interest; the awards programme and ceremony, which takes place in Singapore in May during the annual TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition and Conference, is now firmly established as one of the major events in the industry calendar.
As announced in July, the 2020 Travel Retail Awards will see three game-changing new categories: Best Green Initiative at an Airport, Best Airport Food and Beverage Offer and Best Cruise Ship Retailer.
Nominations for the Best Green Initiative at an Airport can be submitted by the airport or any of its commercial partners including retailers and food and beverage operators.
Watch the highlights from this year’s Travel Retail Awards below.
The Travel Retail Awards are organised in partnership with Swiss research agency m1nd-set, the industry’s leading consumer insights company. A panel of more than 5000 consumers, recruited from m1nd-set’s database of international travellers judge each award category for both the products and airports awards.
