MCM’s new Travel Retail Manager
By Doug Newhouse |
MCM has announced the appointment of Susanne Laible as Global Travel Retail Manager, with immediate effect, following Gerry Munday’s decision to leave the company to take up a new challenge.
Susanne joins MCM from The Nuance Group where she worked as Senior Buyer (Speciality) Fashion Europe with responsibility for all aspects of purchasing management, along with new store layout and the development of the buying team.
Laible is said to have wide experience and expertise in both fashion and luxury retail, including previous spells with Harvey Nichols in both Europe and Asia as a senior buyer and general manager. From October 2007 to December 2009 she was also the General Manager Buying Harvey Nichols and Luxury Boutiques with PT Mitra Adiperkasa in Jakarta, Indonesia.
WIDE RESPONSIBILITIES
In her new role at MCM, Laible will be responsible for further developing the brand’s global travel retail business, consolidating existing business in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, as well as seeking new opportunities both in existing markets and new regions such as the Americas.
Laible said: “I am delighted to be joining MCM. It is a challenge, but very exciting to be crossing the fence from a buying position to become part of such a well established and highly thought of brand.
“My previous experience in both travel retail and luxury retailing has given me a great insight into both buyer and customer needs, thus allowing for a smooth transition to this new role.”
ED’S COMMENT: Gerry Munday did a very good job at MCM, establishing the brand in many parts of the world where it previously had no presence. It will be interesting to see where she finally re-emerges.
