Michael Angove collaboration with Jo Malone
By Charlotte Turner |
Jo Malone London’s Limited Edition Home Collection comprising Blackberry & Bay and Orange Blossom, will be relaunched featuring packaging by Welsh artist Michael Angove.
The Royal College of Art graduate has worked as textile designer for a variety of high-profile brands including Jean Paul Gaultier, Hugo Boss and Farrow & Ball, but this is the first time that Michael has approached a piece of work with scent in mind.
“It was exciting for me,” he says, “when I got to know Blackberry & Bay I found it to be fresh, really young, but also wild and British. So when I started building the design, I wanted to have something dense, exciting and fruity.
ORANGE BLOSSOM
“When I smelled Orange Blossom it triggered visions of Victorian greenhouses and orangeries, so the design has a slightly more elegant feel, lighter and rather 1920s. It has a beautiful, almost fairy-like composition.”

Estée Lauder-owned brand, Jo Malone, will produce Scented Candles, Scent Surround Diffusers and Bath Soaps in collaboration with Angove, and will be available to purchase from travel retail locations as of April 2014.
Lauder says the products will be “wrapped in the exquisite designs of fine artist Michael Angove, whose intricate work captures the magic and mystery of the British countryside.
“Its delicate, detailed forms have an enchanted quality. Plants and flowers are drawn from life, complete with hidden insects meticulously and unexpectedly placed.”
The products: Blackberry & Bay Home Candle 200g; Orange Blossom Scent Surround Diffuser 165ml; Blackberry & Bay and Orange Blossom Bath Soap Collection 2x100ml.
